THE PLAN | SPRING 2020

BSM never was a building or event. We are a movement of students pursuing Jesus and striving to make Him known! God always wanted to SEND us rather than GATHER us. And the mission is not canceled!

SO WHAT’S THE PLAN?

There won’t be any Noondays or large group gatherings or events at the BSM Building until further notice, but the BSM staff is available to you! Here are a few things we are putting in place:

FOUR ENCOURAGEMENTS

1. GOD IS STILL ON HIS THRONE. HE IS GOOD. THE GOSPEL HASN’T CHANGED.

Chances are you’ve felt like the whole world is falling apart. God is still good and God is still on his throne. Perhaps he is giving his people a platform to serve and love the world instead of cower in fear, without hope, like our nonbelieving neighbors. God has given us a spirit of power, not a spirit of fear and timidity. The gospel runs in when everyone else runs out. Don’t buy into the hysteria and fear-mongering!

2. YOUR DISCIPLESHIP IS NOT PAUSED.

It’s tempting to treat the coronavirus quarantine like two months of lazy Saturdays. Get out of bed; take a shower; and get busy. Choose motivation and initiative. Be an even better student than before. Focus on the activities in “The Discipleship Wheel”: God’s word, prayer, fellowship, witness. You’re spiritual growth belongs to YOU. No one else can make you grow.

3. THE MISSION IS NOT CANCELED.

The mission is Jesus’s Great Commission in Matthew 28 - to preach the Gospel and make more disciples of Jesus. We are just as called to that mission today as we were in January 2020. Use your time at home to minister to family and immediate neighbors. Use your social media to share your hope in Christ. Use your address book to check up on old friends then take a risk, ask them how their doing, and share your hope in Christ.

4. WE ARE HERE FOR YOU.

The BSM staff love you and pray for you daily! How can we help you? How can we pray for you? Remember, social distancing IS NOT relational distancing! Let’s be friends…. at an appropriate 6 foot distance. ;)

 REMOTE DISCIPLESHIP

What is remote discipleship? Discipleship is meeting regularly with another person or small group to help your grow in your relationship with God. It’s a focused time where spiritual growth and knowing Jesus better are the goals. Remote Discipleship is finding a way to do that over distance.

Were you a part of discipleship while on campus? That is still happening!

  • BSM Leaders: You’ll continue to meet with your staff mentor over Zoom

  • Vertical attenders: Your Vertical group leader wants to keep meeting with you over Facetime, Zoom or Hangouts.

  • Don’t have a group yet? Fill out this quick form and we’ll get you in one!

How do I lead a remote discipleship group?

What can we talk in our meetings?
